    My Knife

I like the mosaic pins there Geoff, go really well with the blade. Lovely work there. Does it cut stuff and stay sharp? Grant.
  2. Paul you can't receive anything nicer than a knife as a gift. That's my version and I'm sticking to it. Grant.
  3. Duncs the Bombers could have used that stuff couldn't they? Nothing would have stuck!! Grant
  4. My 70 litre Techniice kept 75% 0f my ice intact for 12 days at Wonnongatta. Admittedly it was cold outside but it does almost as well in warm conditions. Good value box. Grant.
  5. Take a look at the Little Acorn camera. Plenty on Ebay and elswhere. Just look for the correct one and the best deal. I'm pretty sure it will do what you want. Grant
  6. I reckon about 8" blade would be the realistic limit. I have used it on the big kitchen knife. I suppose you could move a longer blade up and down the holder but it would be a tedious job. Grant
  7. Bring one of those knives in here Cam and we can have a go at the Lansky system. I use it all the time. Grant
  8. I like the safety orange guy ropes too. Grant
  9. Well with a tent you still have to add in your bedding, however grand that may be. The swag is roll out prop up and go to bed. A tarp in an "A" shape over the top gives you protection and the ability to stand up and get dressed. I have all three, camper trailer for more than three or four nights, tent for a few nights and swag for overnighters or a bit more. There is a place for all I think. Grant
  10. We have the base layer shirt but after that I reckon it's whatever you feel comfortable in. Any 3 layer system is not going to suit everybody, that is by size, comfort, affordability and function. Mix and match is my advice and for the outers, take a look at what you already own before going for stuff that just looks good. Grant.
  11. Why don't you just make your own and feel happy about it. Get an old wetsuit and cut the legs off to the length that you want. 4mm neoprene will stretch down to 3mm and that will be plenty thick enough, why not start with 5mm, that should do it. Gaiters on the market are just not aimed at snake bite protection, there's burrs and stones that you want to keep out of your boots. Then water protection for your socks. Sure, you get condensation inside but it's not the same as water sneaking down your socks and ruining your day with crook feet. Anyone, anyone at all please tell me about any person in Australia who has been envenomated by a snake through gaiters. I will be most interested. Grant.
  12. Chrisso if you want gaiters 5mm thick or more, you'll have to wear 3 pairs at once. Grant
  13. Hello Paul, welcome to the forum. Take a good look around and please keep us informed on your latest hunts. Grant
  14. What about this? Available at the end of the week. Check the business section then. Grant
  15. That's enlightening Fenring. Is there a spot for that in the Wiki? It would be a great reference for the future and save a lot of time. Grant P.S. I just checked, there is a spot, Optics and lighting. How about posting it there Fenring?
  16. I've had it for a while now so can't remember the price but I see they have them for about $21 at the moment. You can't focus this one to a tight beam though, you only get 3 modes, full power, low power and strobe which is a waste of time. If you can get a P7 from Hong Kong or an UltraFire that focuses, it would be better. But the $2 mount system is worth a try. Grant
  17. I think your edit just beat me to it re Deal Extreme. Grant
  18. I have an Ultrafire U4-MCU which is great. I'm sure the one you are looking at is good too. Try looking at Deal Extreme for better pricing , freight free and you can find a very cheap mount there as well. http://www.dealextreme.com/ Grant
  19. That's good, for a while there I thought I'd have to spend the rest of my life just talking to Duncs!! Grant
  20. And further on that, why would I really want 80 channels? If the IC-440 can't be upgraded is that a monumental problem? Grant
  21. Prestige has that IC-440 as a package inc. 6db aerial for $452 post free. That's a bit of a saving there because you get the cable and connections as well. I just bought one. Grant
  22. Nope sorry, they are made in a different country to where our screen is. That digital pattern though is the same as our gaiters which will be coming next year. Grant
  23. Hi Mavrick, welcome to the site. There are plenty of blokes on here to steer you in the right direction re ammo for your .223 After you pick it up and run a box of average type ammo through it, just ask a question in the ammo section. I bet you get 50 different opinions. Grant
  24. I'm off topic I know, but good post Forgie. Grant
