  1. Why don't you just make your own and feel happy about it. Get an old wetsuit and cut the legs off to the length that you want. 4mm neoprene will stretch down to 3mm and that will be plenty thick enough, why not start with 5mm, that should do it. Gaiters on the market are just not aimed at snake bite protection, there's burrs and stones that you want to keep out of your boots. Then water protection for your socks. Sure, you get condensation inside but it's not the same as water sneaking down your socks and ruining your day with crook feet. Anyone, anyone at all please tell me about any person in Australia who has been envenomated by a snake through gaiters. I will be most interested. Grant.
  2. Chrisso if you want gaiters 5mm thick or more, you'll have to wear 3 pairs at once. Grant
  3. What about this? Available at the end of the week. Check the business section then. Grant
  4. That's enlightening Fenring. Is there a spot for that in the Wiki? It would be a great reference for the future and save a lot of time. Grant P.S. I just checked, there is a spot, Optics and lighting. How about posting it there Fenring?
  5. I've had it for a while now so can't remember the price but I see they have them for about $21 at the moment. You can't focus this one to a tight beam though, you only get 3 modes, full power, low power and strobe which is a waste of time. If you can get a P7 from Hong Kong or an UltraFire that focuses, it would be better. But the $2 mount system is worth a try. Grant
  6. I think your edit just beat me to it re Deal Extreme. Grant
  7. I have an Ultrafire U4-MCU which is great. I'm sure the one you are looking at is good too. Try looking at Deal Extreme for better pricing , freight free and you can find a very cheap mount there as well. http://www.dealextreme.com/ Grant
  8. That's good, for a while there I thought I'd have to spend the rest of my life just talking to Duncs!! Grant
  9. And further on that, why would I really want 80 channels? If the IC-440 can't be upgraded is that a monumental problem? Grant
  10. Prestige has that IC-440 as a package inc. 6db aerial for $452 post free. That's a bit of a saving there because you get the cable and connections as well. I just bought one. Grant
  11. Nope sorry, they are made in a different country to where our screen is. That digital pattern though is the same as our gaiters which will be coming next year. Grant
  12. Something like this? Grant
  13. I'm off topic I know, but good post Forgie. Grant
  14. At long last he turned up. My colour blind son can see orange colours and call them as orange. He can see the blues as in the camo and call it as blue and purple. Where he does have difficulty is in the reds, greens, and some blues. He can get them confused with purple. So does that help? I don't think so. Without doing the research about all forms of human colour blindness it looks to me like the blue is on the borderline of recognition by ALL colour blind hunters. So my opinion on the Zarco....almost convincing marketing. Thanks for that again Tez338 Grant
  15. Thanks Tez338, it is interesting alright. I've watched it a few times and have some observations. First, something about the clip. It starts off with a lot of African game with a few deer pics and the viewer thinks that eventhough the speaker is talking about deer, this product applies to all game animals. A mind trick. A really good marketing clip. The main pitch is to deer hunters in the USA then to a specific group of colour blind deer hunters. Deer readily see blue, no doubt about it. The explanation given here as to why this Zarco camo works on deer is that it confuses the eye of the game. Give me a break!! And that infra red reflector agents in the fabric contribute to this. I'll tell you what confuses a deer...a bullet!. Regarding the colour blind hunters being able to spot this camo much more easily than an orange, I'll post an answer soon. My young bloke is colour blind so I'll do some testing when he gets in to work this arvo. Take a look at the old pictures of the deer hunters with all sorts of coloured gear on. In my view, the most successful hunters have great hunting skills and knowledge as a main attribute. After that comes quality gear, and possibly a willingness to wear safety orange. More to come. Grant
  16. Forgot to add the picture.
  17. No Shadow, the AAA battery holder is in it. Haven't mounted either on a rifle but I'm sure you can get mounts that don't cost the earth. The handle diameter of the P7 is 30mm and the U4 is 28mm, I reckon you could use the same mount for both. The P7 can be focussed but not the U4. Grant
  18. I have a P7 for about $70 then bought an Ultrafire U4-MCU from Deal Extreme for about $25. Cant separate them. Good value. Grant
  19. Krusty, what's your address?

  20. Nah, sorry Big Jak can't do it. But I can send you a couple of dozen dim sims to get you started on the road physical recovery. Grant
  21. Aaaw Jock! So it fitted you? I was a bit apprehensive branding you XXL after I took a look at the 'Gatta pics. ( I meant that it might be too big!) Thanks for that Jock, it means a lot coming from you. Tell me how the pack goes down when it happens. I have a couple of improvements to make to it next production run. Cheers Grant
  22. Forgot to tell you why I can't comment publicly. It's because I'm a filthy capitalist and I don't want to alienate any potential pinko, latte sipping, pseudo environmentalist tree hugging bush walkers who could be in the market for a backpack.

  23. Hi Fangster.

If you wrote that divorce agreement I'm impressed, if you didn't I'm still impressed. I'm not in a position to publicly say "hear hear" so I'm telling you. Cheers Grant

  24. Gryph those boots bottom right ROCK Outdoors are the best boots (not yours, mine) I have ever owned. Wore them at Kokoda and many years after that. I even had them repaired when some stitching came away. I would buy them again but can't find them anywhere. Originally got mine from Rays Outdoors but they don't have them any more. Got any clues where I can get them please? Grant
  25. Gee they have gone up then! Bought mine Ebay I think about $75 from Honkers. Grant
