  1. The pink dressing gown is for fun :-). It cost me $90 delivered aud from a guy at Qld that obviously didnt get what he was expecting.
  2. My new Cabelas 3D mossy oak just arrived. Heaps better than I was expecting, very quiet and not to hot. They are material underneath not mesh so they will be pretty sturdy.
  3. The lands department and goodle maps will have them.
  4. You wont go wrong with a lightforce but dont expect to run a 100w bulb through you lighter for 2 long as I managed to melt mine after a big night spotlighting and Im not the first, the 35w bulbs are perfect but I use that for my handheld and not what you are after from the car. If its lighting from a car all night I think the battery terminals are better when running the big lights.
  5. Hello new members, where are all you guys from?
  6. Mine is water proof Battery Life 3 months on 6 C batteries Doesnt matter what moonlight you have, obviously if its full and bright it will be better Can take as many shots or as little as each motion is tripped Sensetivity is good, have caught rats and birds on mine 60ft it says which is easy for day night I would say 40ft (maybe a little more) They are great fun and are good to give you insite to your spot. Mine is a Reconyx. Mine was $1000 quite a while back, if you want a quality one without a flash (one thats uses IR) you will be spending $300 up.
  7. Cool thats the way it goes, don't have to waste any money on that stuff then. I have found thats the only thing that ever gives me away. When the wind turns unexpectedly. I have been watching deer recently for long periods of time and as soon as that wind shifted slightly, heads were up and they would trot off. Wasn't an issue as it was just scouting and if I was after one they would have been well on the ground before then, but its been a good learning curve just observing them and seeing what gets them going. So far for me it has been shifts in the wind where they scent me, or the odd spooked roo.
  8. Agree, stalking technique is far more important, and as long as you are broken up you should get in there, pending scent. While we are on this, does anyone have a coverup scent blocker they can recommend?
  9. Nice good to see a description like that, from proper field testing.
  10. I haven't been getting spotted by deer wearing Mossy Oak at all, only time they have been getting us while scoping is when the wind changes, at points we have been right on the edge virtually in plain site and they haven't seen us at all. I have noticed that I have been getting allot closer since I have been wearing a mossy oak face cover. I think Mossy oak works fine along with Auscams, well it has been in the field and thats the only thing I care about.
  11. I have a reconyx game camera and its a great investment. Mine has range out past 50 ft in the day and less a night but still gets out there. They are very handy for scouting and can give you good insight to a location as to when game frequent it.
  12. Sounds like we have the same set up going Jindy.
  13. Definately the case Happy, The laptop I have cost 250 and does the job perfect, but I work inIT so I can fix it if required.
  14. Same here, love the data. This is when it helpd to have big Duel Monitors to aid in the massive amount of screen dumps.
  15. I take away paper versions that I fold up in my pocket and also have the laptop under the seat if I want to look up something in super detail, but I normally have this done before I leave. I prefer the Lat/Lon for the exact reason you like UTM it was what I learnt on and understand. I do have a topo with me as well to see contour lines, luckily I dont have to make those ones I have the whole of NSW covered on dvd. I only use the GPS for points that I have all over my maps.
  16. I have made some much better maps since the new six viewer data is available. I then calibrate them with ozi and away I go. These maps put me within metres of where I need to be. The topos are alright but I find the sat photos 20x better than the tops for looking for new spots. I have mad these for every forest I hunt.
  17. Welcome mate, its a great place to bounce questions off people and post hunting reports.
  18. I dont think I will be seeing that in my lifetime. The semi Autos being made legal that is.
  19. Im 100% with Robbo, Im about to get one myself.
  20. I have North Beach and Oakley Polarised for fishing, I use the Oakleys for outside as its seems to get through a bit better to watch fish smashing my lures. It really depends on Budget as well, you get what you pay for alot of the time with Polarised.
  21. I use Taipan and love them, you can walk through water and not get wet, but I did manage to get week feet walking through snow. Other than that the boots are awesome, youcan walk all day with them.
  22. I have a Camo Camel Bak Transformer, takes 3L and all the gear I need on a full day hunt. Good pack but not that cheap.
  23. I use OziExplorer and havent found one better, I use Topos from CD's for it but the land department has great maps that you can screen dump and join together to make good aerial maps of areas that you hunt. www.maps.nsw.gov.au
  24. I have a Magellan 330 does everything I need and then some, Cheap as chips now as they are a few models on. Mine on the weekend fell out of the car and was then driven into a big mud bog, I wased it out and changed the batteries and it was working fine. I use mine with aussie explorer and find it very handy to see where you have been over aerial maps I make and topos.
  25. I have a Bushnell Spacemaster 15-45 and its fine for everything that I do, Im sure that it would be more than enough. I use it at the range and in the field and fine the optices very clear.
