  1. Holy crap! $2000 is pretty scary! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. I just asked him again. Apparently he knows it's not a satellite phone (accurate communication not his strong point). He says satellite phones also have subscription fees but are more expensive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Hi Geoff. The boss wants one so we can be in touch when out of range. In touch with each other and the kids at home. Likewise on long outback trips. I'm not sure what the link has, Camilo sent it to me to ask. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Could someone please recommend a good satellite phone that is reliable, has good functions, not too expensive etc? We've look at this one. https://www.wildearth.com.au/buy/delorme-inreach-se-personal-satellite-gps-messenge/DELINRSE Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I've got a leafy suit I got from cabelas. Can't remember the brand name as I'm hopeless with names but it's basically just a mozzie mesh with leaves on it. It's very, very fresh. I often just wear a singlet and shorts under it. In winter I can layer up and still put that on. It's quite a dark leafy colour so is great in green, forestry areas.
  9. One good thing about being a woman is you don't necessarily need a rifle sling. This may sound funny but I carry my rifle on my hip. sorry, that didn't really contribute anything useful to your post but at least the sling can't break on me. Maybe grow some hips? ?
  10. Doesn't matter, none of them work. Naaa, just kidding. I'm just frustrated, because button or tenterfield, all I get is the neighbours dogs.
  11. The husband gets to go deer hunting and I have to stay home. Aaaarrrggh!

Oh deer, what a nasty Fallow he is. I bet you're seeing Red - lol

  12. I would have thought so too. I do the same with a small aluminum tool box. If I dont have time to move it all out, I leave it on top of the gunsafe all locked up. Bolts, mags and ammo.
  13. Three bunnies in a week. Meager.

  14. Where are all the bunnies?

  15. Great box. We use a little pistol box to transport our rifle bolts. But this box looks even better.
  16. You gotta love the natural progression of things. One turkey, one duck and two roosters have moved from the chook house to the top story of my freezer. Christmas, I'm ready for you. ;)

  17. First use of my new hunting knife. Wasn't for hunting though. Butchered my first home grown duck. It's a great knife. Even cut my finger.

    Knife Care

My girly knife is a top notch Buck. It's great, sharp and does the job. I've also recently bought a smaller knife with a handmade wooden handle, so as such wouldn't put it in the dishwasher. In fact, it would have never occurred to me to put any hunting knife there. I like my knives too much. When the job is done, I stroke them clean, real gentle and then I rub them carefully till dry...Just wondered how best to finish that love and care off.

    Knife Care

Just wondering how you guys look after your blades. If packing them away do you oil the blade and if so, what with? Was talking to a knife salesman recently who told me just to buy some cheap stuff from Woolies (can't remember the name). Does it depend in whether it's Carbon or stainless? Thanks.
  21. +1 on the GME. We have a base unit in the shack and two hand held units. They have great clarity and are happily used by us and the kids.
  22. My husband just told me that I should buy a new gun fir my birthday. Remington 7600 here I come. :)

There's plenty. I've seen quite a few live ones during the day over the last 12 months. That is unusual of course. But it must mean there a lot of them around though.

  25. +1 Spot on about the layering. I get soooo cold but I discovered "Icebreaker". That's a pure wool layering system by our friends the kiwis. No more cold for me. That way you are not burdened with a big bulky outer jacket and you can wear your not so warm jacket on top.
