Hi Dave, yeah foxes were shot over a couple of nights. The ones lit up red at the start, were shot on a night where two of us called and shot 19 foxes on foot using LED torches. Whistle was a shotgun shell brass job. Burkey, the camera is an ATN Shot Trak, can be had off eBay for $240.

I've got one of these mate. 5X optical zoom and meant for gun use. Works great at night too! (this is my video)

Yeah you'll get that halo with any reflector torch, even the long range Olight Javelot has that. M9 should be good for knocking foxes to about 200m though, which is a long shot at night.

You want the 4.2V setting mate. 18650's are a nominal 3.7V but will hit 4.2V fully charged. The 3V setting is for RCR123 batteries. 18650's can take a long time to charge if they are below 3V, can take several hours.

I use a similar light for spotting eyeshine in my hand. These lights use the common P60 dropin so you can switch to different or upgraded dropins including red, green, etc. I would suspect that the Solar force M3 head would screw onto it.

The Zeus will work fine on a .22 etc out to about 100m. If you want a budget long thrower, as my friend above said, get this: http://www.solarforceflashlight-sales.com/product_detail.php?id=572&s=26&t=LF You'll need to get some spare batteries, like these:

17670 is same size as two cr123. http://www.lighthound.com/AW-17670-Unprotected-Rechargeable-Lithium-Battery_p_102.html But only 3.7v and 1400 capacity so worse than two cr123 in capacity. Turf the old bulb and run this: http://www.solarforceflashlight-sales.com/product_detail.php?t=RB&s=40&id=492

Got me buggered. CR123 / 16340 and 18350's in pairs should run it. Something going on in the driver I reckon. My new K3 (MT-G2 @1500 lumens), Pro-1 and M3 will all run on a pair of RCR123's.

It looks good mate. Thanks for the review.

I have found this to be a good solution, if a high powered head torch is required. I use one for night time shotgunning with a lightweight Solarforce P1 polymer torch. http://intl-outdoor.com/ajustable-headband-for-flashlights-or-headlamps-p-456.html Any small and light torch will work, something like this for example. http://intl-outdoor.com/shadow-gf2-xml-u2-side-switch-18650-flashlight-p-690.html

Contact the seller. He is pretty good to deal with.

200m shots with the Pro-1 are a no brainer.

Good effort mate. If I want to use My M3 or Pro-1 as a kill light on the rifle, I run two of these: http://www.solarforceflashlight-sales.com/product_detail.php?t=BC&s=23&id=364 Same voltage as an 18650 (3.7V each) so two = 7.4V so you get full output. Capacity is 880mA/h x 2 = 1760mA/H so less than one 18650 (around 2600mA/h) but as it's a kill light only I don't need long runtime. So I get full output from the M3 and Pro-1 but in a short body. Pro-1 on my HMR. M3 on my 6.5 Swede.
-
I reckon the M8 will throw pretty good.
-
The Pro-1 has always been a turbohead - designed to fit onto compatible bodies. They used to sell it and the Pro-2 on a 2x18650 L2X body, but stopped making the L2X. Just get whatever L2 you like, and bung the Pro-1 on that. The Pro-1 does not get full power with one 18650 / 3.7v. What I do, is run two RCR123 batteries in mine. So I get full output but in a short light. I reckon the 2x18650 version is a bit long for rifle mounting. Runtime isn't as long, but on a kill light only switched on to take a shot that doesn't matter. I had my Pro-1 out the other night, with a Wolf Eyes X Beam and IMO the Pro-1 killed the X Beam. More throw and more flood when the X Beam was fully focused.
-
Despite all these new lights, if I'm serious and need a bit of reach the good old Pro-1 still gets the nod.
-
Yeah, that's a thumper alright.
-
LOL. Don't go here then..... http://www.intl-outdoor.com/

For a HMR IMO a rifle mounted thrower, with a floodier scouting torch on a lanyard is the go. The M3 makes a great scouting light and in fact makes a decent rifle mounted light, though it won't throw as far as the Pro-1 or the M8. http://www.solarforceflashlight-sales.com/product_detail.php?t=LF&s=52&id=525&sname=m3&xpage=1&sh=1 I would perhaps add the battery extender for longer burntime. http://www.solarforceflashlight-sales.com/product_detail.php?t=FA&s=16&id=60 For a rifle mounted light, take your pick out of the Pro-1 and M8. If you want some serious flood as well as long throw then get the M8. If you want long, tight throw then get the Pro-1. Myself, I just use a P1 as my scouting torch. http://www.solarforceflashlight-sales.com/product.php?t=FB with a three mode XP-G. I get a couple of hours out of a battery and it will pick up fox eyes from 300m easily. Also very light. http://www.solarforceflashlight-sales.com/product_detail.php?t=RB&s=10&id=113 One my rifle I use the M3 when I can whistle foxes in closer in summer. Later on when my shots are going to be longer, and less around I go to the Pro-1. The M3 is also a great light for a .22 - I just run mine on medium and can shoot them at max .22LR range.
-
The Pro-1 is still a great thrower. It does have a tight centre spot but also some spill. If you want something that throws and lights up a big area too, then the Solarforce M8 is currently being sold for a crazily small sum. http://www.solarforceflashlight-sales.com/product_detail.php?id=561&s=26&t=LF One of the AHN boys has reviewed it.

That's correct. The neutral is a warmer colour, more like a typical halogen light than the bluish tint associated with LED's. I always get cool white as it looks to throw further and I find I get better eyeshine with the cooler tints.
