Hi Guys thanks for the info put forward on the other threads relating to riflemounted torches. Am ready to place my order with santa but just wanted to check if the setup i am choosing has any obvious flaws in it or if i am missing anything in the order.

It is to go primarily on my .223 which has a 6X18X40 on it.

Torch - Solarforce Masterpeice Pro-1 Moster Thrower

Battery Charger and 2 X 18650

And Torch Mounts (thanks for links fenring)

Mount1

Mount2

Anything else i would be needing? Would this be a suitable setup?

any recommendations would be appreciated

Cheers

Hey Rowes,

I have this setup too and recently gave it a good run on a week away trip.I use a wolf eyes M2 mount though, quick and easy to remove, although a bit bulky looking, same torch and batter1es. Does it work? You bet! I had it on my 17HMR for the first and last night and accounted for 6foxes,2 cats and 6 bunnies in a hours walking between the two nights.I have had a few setups, but this one has been the best for what I am doing. And at the right price too I recon. They do need a piece of poly pipe to sleeve the 18650 battery for a neat fit into the tube,an easy thing to do.It insures good contact with the springs and stops the battery rattling.Another Fenring recommendation that is the goods.Merry Christmas!! I love Santa!

Smithy

PS I would go with the 4 battery /home /car charger if I was doing it from scratch.

JUst a quick question. Would this mount work with this light? I am using a ultrafire 501B with this mount.

What I have been doing is getting some slightly longer screws and file a little groove for each so the light fits it right. Its been really good and all my mates have bought the same setup. We shoot out to 100/150 metres with it and its really good. However I'm always on the look out for something better so I thought I might try this one out!!

Order is placed woohoo!!

sales team was really helpfull too. I really wanted the ready to go charger kit that included the car charger but the international charger kit didnt have one so i emailed them a query about it and they said they would happily throw in the AUS power point adapter for free. Worth asking sometimes aye. :thumbsu:

will post a couple of pics when it arrives and i get it mounted up. cheers for help guys. :)

How did you go...or are you still waiting for delivery?

I have a question or two.

I am looking at ordering the same Pro-1 head L2T body combo and am wondering if it comes with a drop in LED module? Seems like it doesn't.

I would prefer a CREE XR-E (WC-R2) LED with a smooth reflector however did not see one listed on its own.

Will probably also get a drop in to use as a general purpose torch with the L2T head when its not mounted. I assume the same size drop-ins work with both heads?

Thanks.

Ian.

The Pro-1 is a self contained unit - driver, emitter and reflector. It just needs to be attached to a battery tube with switch.

The L2T can have whatever P60 sized dropin you like in it.

AFAIK he's never stocked the XR-E with a smooth reflector. I got smooth reflectors for mine from Dealextreme.

You can buy the whole lot from them - XR-E dropin and smooth reflector to fit.

Hi guys it arrived yesterday, guess the post was a little busy during christmas. the mounts still havent arrived yet but i received and email on friday saying they where dispatched then so should only be another day or two b4 they arrive.

I had a couple of concerns with the unit, first one was if i insert the battery from the lens end and then screw the lens on it wont work unless i unscrew the lens about 6 rotations and then it will work. If i screw the lens on and then insert the battery from the switch end and screw that on it works as expected, it must just not quite seat right if going about it from the other end, i know its only minor but i like things to work as expected

The charger unit i am also not sure about as there are no instructions regarding the display lights when charging. When i put the batteries in to charge they light up red which is to be expected but then they switch of after a minute for about 10 secs and then come on for about 10 secs and then off for about 10 secs etc etc. i at first thought that was because they where charged but i notice there is a flicker of green when they switch of so i would assume the lights should turn green when fully charged. Do any of you guys have the solar force charger and if you do is mine working as expected? cant find my meter either so couldnt check that but will look for it again tonight. have emailed them a query but might not get an answer for a day or two.

cheers

Always put the battery in from the back end. The spring at the head end really needs to seat properly into the battery tube. Are you using the L2i body or L2 or L2P or L2T?

The L2i body (the one I have, that also can take 3xAAA's) can be a tight fit for a single 18650 battery and a bit finicky as far as proper earthing and contact goes.

No idea about the charger, sorry.

cheers mate,

Yeah the battery fed from the back is a good fit and works well, i have the L2T body just the short one for now.

Regarding the charger the guys from solar force replied back to me and said to run batteries flat and try again and if the charger still acts strangely they will send a replacement so good to know, will do that tonight. hopefully my mounts will turn up today or tomorrow too!

when did you make the deal extreme order? I made one on the 25th and its still ssaying they are waiting for a supplier!

Ordered mounts from Deals Direct on 17th December and received an email saying they were shipped on the 30th December, hopefully they they will turn up this week. Solar force torch and gear i also ordered on 17th December and they where delivered on 3rd January. that was a good turnaround considering chrissy was in the middle i thought.
