  1. A good few pairs of thick explorer socks will go a long way Just make sure you wear them in before committing to a big hunt! I've got the same boot on order plus a bunch of other stuff from the states. Feel like a kid at christmas.
  2. I want a new set of bino's for hunting (mainly deer). Has anyone had any experience with the following (or similiar) binoculars: --------------------------- Steiner Merlin 8x40 - $450 Zeiss Conquest 8x40 - $850 Meopta 7x42 - $860 --------------------------- I've looked through 7x42mm Meopta's and they were just awesome, no doubt the Zeiss' would be just as good. I would prefer the Steiners as they are much cheaper but don't want to give too much away in terms of performance. No doubt they are all super-clear but is the extra 400 bucks really gaining that much more in terms of light gathering ability?? --------- Interesting to note the Steiners have a higher Twilight Factor and Relative Brightness figure/s than the Zeiss - but at the end of the day I guess they are just numbers and the true quality is in the glass and associated coatings. --------- Would prefer replies from people with real life experience using mid-to-high end bino's in the bush please.
  3. Ten Zone Archery is the eBay store where I bought mine. Good bloke and good service for a good product. Unfortunately eBay is shutting him down due to not using Paypal or something , pr!cks.
  4. I'm happy with my new 3D suit, nice and quiet, no synthetic crap - does fine in everything except the really thick scrub (which nobody but doggers can hunt effectively in anyway).
  5. Walk around the perimeter of the fence first looking for tracks, holes, hair stuck in the fence etc. Might save you a coupla hundred bucks. I don't think many go past 30 or 40m? Could be wrong though.
  6. Yep - I'm getting a Leupy VX-II 3-9x40 for my new rifle, better get it before the Aussie Dollar goes down again. It was up around 90 US cents there for a while
  7. I use plain old Auscams and a khaki poletec when it's cold. I'm going to get some darker stuff for thick, wet mountain forests too - the auscams can be a bit too light. Don't forget about Blackfoot gear - designed in Aussie for Aussie's.
  8. Will do soon mate. It's not so bad when hunting in open country, just the thick stuff. Apart from that they are pretty good, it also has a mouldable frame that holds the pack off your back a bit which prevents sweating in warm weather. Never had any problems in rain either....not that it rains a lot anyway
  9. I've got a Ridgeline something something. Good pack, lots of inside pockets for storing all those small items, quiet material on the exterior....Only problem is it's got a bloody velcro strip on the top of the flap - every time you open it makes this horrible sound Might cut it out soon... We've also got one like Rono's - great pack, quiet, simple, very functional. Only thing I'd like to see is a couple of small pockets on the inside and it would be PERFECT.
  10. I've got a GME TX630 - works pretty well.
  11. Hey, come from the Bathurst area and have a few properties that I can hunt on around here - but prefer the R-forests.
  12. Look fine - Aust. snakes don't have very long fangs at all. Plus I'm sure that snakes would of been taken into concideration if they are designed for Australia. As everyone will say main thing is just to avoid them when you see them in the bush.
  13. GME - I've got a TX630, great little radio.
