  1. Welcome Cuz =) Nice work on the .270. My PTA is in for my .22 (should be done in the next week or so) and will be saving my arse off for a .22-250. Will have to organise a trip to the range

What for? whats next on the shopping list?

  3. I am trying to track down a diopter, can anyone help out??

  4. For a few extra dollars I purchased an 8 gun safe from Foxsafes in Ulladulla. Not sure on your location but personally I would not buy a safe from eBay.
  5. I am ex Army and had no real problem with them. In saying that they had to be the correct size for your feet, sometimes Q stores did not have the exact size so people took the close enough is good enough approach which worked with the old GP's. When they didn't fit properly that is when your feet got shredded. I still have a pair and they go fine when I am out walking all day. Prefer my Danners though The waterproof 1 way valve is a crock.. can't stop anything when they fall out.
  6. Have to agree, stone and steel are the only way to go. I find this the best way for me to control to pitch or angle of my blade and also ensures the blade stays sharper for longer.
  7. If you search I thinl there has been posts on this topic before. You can view my type of safe at www.foxsafe.com.au - B8 safe.
  8. Welcome to the forum guys, good to see more Canberra people getting on here
  9. Nice knife Drew. Can I ask where did you purchase it?
  10. Here is a couple in my collection that I like. The 1st one is the only one I have used thus far. In the 2nd pic the 3rd knife down has an 8.5inch blade and is 14 inches in total length. The 3rd pic is a couple I picked up whilst in East Timor off the Nepalese Ghurkas.
  11. Have to agree. After looking into building my own aligned to ACT specs I worked it out to be cheaper to buy one and know it meets criteria.
  12. Welcome easyrider There is plenty of people on here with a wealth of knowledge. Make sure you utilise it =)
  13. Welcome to all the new comers... Happy posting and hunting...
  14. Apparently the tawny owl's eyes are 100 times more sensitive at night than a humans. (learnt that last weekend lol at a zoo) **sorry not trying to have something to say against everyone's post either, just sharing my useless bits of info**
  15. Just a little more to this. When looking at things at night and trying to focus look to the left or right of the object. This is because the rods are on the outer edge of the iris and during the day you predominatly use the cones and look straight at things. The human eye has about 120 million rods and 6 million cones. The cones take 9 minutes to adjust to changes in light whilst the rods can take hourse depending on the variance in light. (just a little something I learned when I joined the Army)
  16. I have the black handled one, haven't used it yet though. Had a lot of trouble getting it into OZ, was confiscated at customs. Had to submit paperwork to get it back0 Have a look at my thread "my collection"
  17. Cheers Robbo My favourites are the machete and the bayonets. I have a few others bits for the .303 but I really want to get the rifle it's self.
  18. And a few more. May as well put the others up.
  19. I am into collecting blades of sorts be it bayonets, swords, knives and fantasy knives (only because they were given as presents) So I thought I would post a couple of pics here instead of the hunting section as I don't really hunt with these. Mods feel free to move this thread should you feel it is in the wrong section. I am posting some pics of some enfield bayonets, a machete from WW2 and some gurkha knives that I got from the nepalese while in East Timor. In the picture of the bayoents you will notice the bottom bayonet has a pitted blade (need to find somewhere to tidy this up) the top 1 is in top condition. The machete is in great condition given its age. The Gurkha knife picture contains 2 knives. The top plain one is a general use 1 they made whilst in East Timor and the bottom 1 is the ceremonial knife that has the engraving on the blade, the coins and decoration on the sheath. Feel free to post your toys. I will add more later however did not want to make a huge thread.
  20. Sorry Gnome! didn't get a thorough look.. Looking at work does not give me much time lol I will post some pics of my other knives/swords/bayonets when I get some. Look forward to seeing the new edtion with the others. *might have to book mark that website*
  21. Very beefy. What are the measurements on that?
  22. There is some very nice craftsmanship going around Some look to nice to use. The knife I currently use was bought with the sole purpose of being used. I have a few others that are to good to use. I also collect swords, bayonets and more knives. Here is the knife I currently use.
