With the Garmin 60 can you as with the lowrance and mark a spot with an icon only? Mainly used it in the boat until the lowrance died. In a general area I use one way point to navigate to the area and plot my way to each icon that represents fishing spot or rockbar. If using waypoints the screen becomes cluttered with the names all over the screen verses an icon mark. The lady at Garmin could not tell me over the phone today as I do not think see actually use the units.

Curious Happy Jack what did you make the rain cap out of? Before fitting my through the roof mount I got a 50mm pvc end cap and used the heat gun. Placed hose clamp around the end cap and heated it while over the roof mount, once clamp got tight from heating the cap. let cool and it is the right size. Painted cap , hose clamp and roof mount to same colour as roof and very few notice it from outside. When need to fit light loosen clamp and tap light from under neath and cap is removed. it was all I could think of at the time. PS the police tend to pull me over in the city when the spotty is fitted to the old 60 crusier and this makes my life easier

As long as you can set the datum to GDP 84? or what ever your mapping you are using. Datum for land and sea are different by about 185m. This will probly only affect you are swapping GPS points with other people. eg access point into a paddock or a fishing spot. I use my hand held in my boat and mount it in the 4wd. When swapping spots you need to know what datum it was taken in and what datum you have your unit set on. 185m radius is alot in scrub looking for pig left by one person for the other with the ute to find. That may what is meant by a differnt system.
