  1. I got mine about 4 yrs ago from ebay, the sellers name was 95soarer, his kits work a treat.
  2. I have rercently purchased 2 trail cams that send pictures via a sim card direct to your phone. They cost 450 each and work on the telstra NextG network. I have seen some cheaper ones on ebay that work on 3G. Even if the crims see your camera you will still have their number plate and faces sent to your phone or email. If you are close by you may even catch them in the act once your phone has alerted you. cheers
  3. Yes Happy Jack I agree they have their place. I use my thermal imager to find game in total darkness. I also find game, that is hiding in tall grass or behind low bushes as their heat signature is reflected of the surounding vegetation and I see a tell tale glow. Downed game in total darkness is also easily found, as well as wounded game as you can see the heat signature of any blood trail. I have never been able to do this with any of my NV gear. I have even spotted game with the Flir even though my NV binos saw nothing, and when we turned on the spotlight we still couldnt see a brown coloured pig 250 metres out in a paddock laying down. The Flir was showing a definite heat source there. Only when we headed in the direction of this pig and got near it, could we make it out what it was without the Flir. As I stated before, I use both NV and thermal imaging and I know what works for me. Im no salesman but im sold on the Flirs effectiveness. cheers
  4. Thermal imaging is the way to go these days, you can buy a handheld unit for around $2450 and it works in any conditions, starlight, moon light, and even daylight or light fog. No traditional night vision that I have seen can do that. I have owned and still own Isreali, Russian and US nightvision gear, but my Flir thermal imager craps on all of them and is more compact. It makes my NV gear obsolete, and will soon all be sold off. Tezza if your mate can supply thermal imaging gear at a reasonable cost that would be great. cheers
  5. Same thing for me and 3 of my hunting buddies. cheers
  6. Mate I have done one for a Lightforce SL240 before, my light and instuctions for the HID conversion are 650kms away on a property. I put it together myself and it was easy. It was some time ago but maybe i can assist you with any questions you may have. cheers ps- I will see if its possible to have the instructions faxed to me for you.
  7. If you want something a little different, that can carry from one to four adults and is as stealthy and quiet as you can get, and wont spook game, try an electric hunting buggy. They are not as quick as a quad, but some will do over 30kph and 60-70km on a single charge. With an electric motor you dont need speed as you can drive silently up to your game. I have driven as close as 15mtrs up to feeding pigs before they have looked up at me, 30-40mtrs is usualy the norm. Even when they have looked up, they usualy just stand there looking at me for a few seconds before they move on. Some have stayed still until a shot was fired. They can be purchased in your price range, mine was less than half of what you are looking at spending from Pickles auctions, and it was brand new. Anyway best of luck with whatever you decide to buy. Heres a couple of pics of mine.
  8. I have three spotlights and the Lightforce sl240 converted to HID has by far the furthest reach. Its the spotty that me and my hunting buddies reach for 1st. cheers
  9. FM I have used lightforces infra red filter on my SL240 in conjunction with night vision binos and goggles. They work great everything you will see will be in shades of green, animals eyes will also light up a bright green when you have the spotlight on them. Works well but I gave up trying to hunt this way as you have to much equipment strapped to you. You will be able to see game that your mates cant, and you will also have the problem of how do you shoot the game u spot. You cant shoot through a scope with NV gear strapped to your face, and its virtually impossible to shoot over a shotty as well. If you had a NV scope things are still awkward you will need someone to hold the spotty for u and if you have the IR filter on they wont be able to see what they are pointing the spotty at, unless they are using NV gear also. Mounting the spotty with IR filter on a NV scope wont help either as you will soon get sore arms waving the NV scope and spotty mounted rifle around trying to find game in the dark. We found it all too cumbersome, too many wires and too much weight to cart around. Made for a good experiment but it was costly as well. Cheers
  10. Sorry for late reply, Its the one on ebay that len has a link for in his post. It was only $115 when I got it. cheers
  11. I have 2 Lightforce SL240 spotlights and used them both one night after I had one converted to 35watt HID. In one paddock on my property we could see a mob of pigs all the way over to the far boundary fence as they were entering the paddock, the other 100 watt SL240 only threw its beam 3/4 of the way across the open paddock and left the pigs in total darkness. I am now gonna convert this SL240 to HID after seeing that. penguin
  12. Hello everyone, On Friday I received my express post pack from Glen at Quarterflash. Inside was a Wolf Eyes Sniper 260 torch, it came with rifle or shotgun barrel mount and a pressure switch, coil and end cap as well as a charger. I already have the Raider 380 torch and some accesories, and believe me what a good light it is, when it sits on top of my scope on my .308 or .243. Well I was after a torch to mount onto the barrell of one of my shottys, so after speaking to Glen I purchased the Sniper 260 LED torch. What a beatiful bright white light it gives out on full power mode. This light has 3 brightness levels and a strobe light mode built in. Well the other night I was sitting at home and I decided to go down the road to the local park and compare the 2 torches and see if there was much of a diff between them. I walked out to one of the footy fields in my trackies and thongs and switched on the Raider 380 and aimed it at the opposing goal posts 100mtrs away. I could clearly see the goal posts lit up in the darkness, and I could see way beyond this into the distance. I then tried out my new Sniper 260 and the result was very similar, just that the Snipers LED threw out a much whiter light than the Raiders incandesant globe. Anyway at this point I nearly jumped out of my skin as a BLOODY GREAT BIG MALE BOXER DOG rushed at me from the side, he was barking mad and growling and showing me his canines. I nearly did a number 2 in my pants, my 1st reaction was to blind him with my Raider but then I remembered Glen telling me that the strobe function on the Sniper may be usefull to disorientate a mugger or assailant. I put the Sniper into strobe mode so fast that even I am amazed now at how quick I can move when in danger. The Boxers eyes lit up and strobed back at me from only 10mtrs away, but he stopped dead in his tracks, put his teeth back in his mouth and just stared and stared into the strobing light not even blinking once. After what seemed like an eternity coz I was still shitting myself, some bloke ran up and called his dog back to him and they walked off. I didnt even get an appology or anything from this guy. But I was relieved that my quick thinking and my new torch saved my butt. I then decided to stay a few more minutes and play with my torches so as to give the addrenilin that was still pumping through my body disipate. 30 seconds or so later, something made me spin around, and there is this stupid @@@@@@@ mutt again, 5mtrs away coming at me, I launch the Raider at him hitting him on the chest and I activate the strobe on the Sniper again, and he slams on the anchors and just stands there staring at me again, this time he is so close I could have stepped up and booted him if I had shoes on. I then yell at his owner to come get his @@@@@@@ mutt or Im gonna club the dog then him. He runs over and grabs the mutt and leaves again no appology or anything, I inform him in the most nicest way possible (not), that his dog should be on a leash in this park at all times, even after ####### dark. After this I hightailed it outa there. I see this clown walking this dog often in that park during the mornings when I take my son to school, I have never had a problem, but for some reason after dark this stupid mutt gets aggresive. Thank god I had the Sniper and the strobe function on my side or it could have got ugly. I hope Glen you read this coz I have just found a new use for your product mate, thank you, I still have all my toes. Now do you reckon I could get a fox to be dazed by the strobe, and just stare at me like the dog was? cheers all Penguin
