  1. Brett I have never had an issue with the rain on mine but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to have a cover. I think the trigger is one second, so if you are close to the camera there is a chance that you will slip by. The side sensors wake the camera up, then, when a moving target gets to the lens area that's when it triggers. If the sensor wakes the camera up from the side and the target doesn't enter the aimed area it won't take a pic....I think. The 30 seconds apart setting allows for either different animals or the same animal in a different position, but if the one animal just moves through the area you end up with two blanks. I prefer about 5 seconds. Try setting up outside simulating the bush setting minimum 3 metres from your target. The new model that you and I just got has a couple of better features than the old one but I haven't done proper setup yet. Grant.
  2. I see the bulge now but I prefer the magic explanation. Thanks. Grant
  3. I got one, it's a bit different from the last one Aldi had. This one has sound as well and the whole 8 batteries are in the same compartment. The design is better. I'm still intrigued as to how the power gets from the battery pack to the camera, I can only see the metal hinge pin. Can you tell me how it works Shawn? Grant.
  4. I'll be away hunting but, talked Mrs SHV into being first in line at the door. Grant.
  5. Here's mine. Made by Wally Bidgood when he lived in Mornington. I think he's in Castlemaine now. I have sharper knives but they don't hold the edge like this one does. I remember when I was talking to him about it he mentioned something about using Swedish steel that he imported. I have had it for quite a while now. Also another use for para cord. As well as being a handy lanyard the colour helped me find it once when I left it on the ground. Grant.
  6. Here am I sandpapering a bit of wood and you are making those beauties!! Well done Richard.
  7. Optic you might try some research on "oiled leather". From memory there was some system of oiling with stuff like Dubbin while the leather was damp, the idea was preservation and conditioned leather for easier working I think. Grant.
  8. Geoff, regarding the gift you mentioned in post 6, how long should I let it go before I ask the Post Office to look for my parcel? Grant.
  9. I reckon that would be too hard to control, but the curve design is for one purpose I have a small skinner with big curve blade which gives me very good control. The cut out which is probably be designed for a forefinger using a full grip makes the thing too small for my hand but if I use it for my thumb, the blade becomes an extension of my finger. Very good close quarter control in hard to get at places. Grant.

    Latest One

Well it's about time you banged your name or mark into the blade I reckon. Grant

In that case it's almost time to quit your day job. Grant. P.S. My quote button doesn't work.
  12. They are so good Joe that they are dangerous. Kid walks off track............lost. Can't see him against the bush.. Grant
  13. If you've got kids then buy them a Joee™ shirt, could just be the thing to get them really want to go with you. You won't regret it. Sure they will grow out of them but they can be passed on. Grant.
  14. Which size is that on TYB and how old is he, 10? Grant.
  15. Would have been nice losing it on the first day, glad you could find it again. Grant.

    My Knife

I like the mosaic pins there Geoff, go really well with the blade. Lovely work there. Does it cut stuff and stay sharp? Grant.
  17. Paul you can't receive anything nicer than a knife as a gift. That's my version and I'm sticking to it. Grant.
  18. Duncs the Bombers could have used that stuff couldn't they? Nothing would have stuck!! Grant
  19. My 70 litre Techniice kept 75% 0f my ice intact for 12 days at Wonnongatta. Admittedly it was cold outside but it does almost as well in warm conditions. Good value box. Grant.
  20. Take a look at the Little Acorn camera. Plenty on Ebay and elswhere. Just look for the correct one and the best deal. I'm pretty sure it will do what you want. Grant
  21. I reckon about 8" blade would be the realistic limit. I have used it on the big kitchen knife. I suppose you could move a longer blade up and down the holder but it would be a tedious job. Grant
  22. Bring one of those knives in here Cam and we can have a go at the Lansky system. I use it all the time. Grant
  23. I like the safety orange guy ropes too. Grant
  24. Well with a tent you still have to add in your bedding, however grand that may be. The swag is roll out prop up and go to bed. A tarp in an "A" shape over the top gives you protection and the ability to stand up and get dressed. I have all three, camper trailer for more than three or four nights, tent for a few nights and swag for overnighters or a bit more. There is a place for all I think. Grant
  25. We have the base layer shirt but after that I reckon it's whatever you feel comfortable in. Any 3 layer system is not going to suit everybody, that is by size, comfort, affordability and function. Mix and match is my advice and for the outers, take a look at what you already own before going for stuff that just looks good. Grant.
