  1. Check out ShonkyMaps for your GPS. I’ve got them on mine and they’re great! Free, accurate and all the topo detail I need. I loaded them years ago so hopefully they’re still available.
  2. Avenza is another app. I’ve loaded in some of the VicMaps and it’s bloody great. I use the free version. The paid version has some good extra features but it ain’t cheap enough for me to grab it. I only use it as a backup to my “proper” GPS (a Garmin). Not sure if I’m being unfair or not but I trust the dedicated GPS unit more than the phone. Does anybody know enough about the detail of the technology behind both of them to give some guidance?
  3. Thanks Gibbo. Glad it worked for you
  4. I’d be surprised if the diamonds wore away? Maybe the plate is getting clogged and just needs a rinse? Or the diamonds come loose and fall out because it’s a cheapo?
  5. He makes it look obvious ? That intro music was hilarious!
  6. It’s been a few years since I’ve done it but if you’re travelling under a group booking as a sporting team, the “manager” will get a slightly higher allowance and you can pay in advance for a larger baggage allowance for each person. I’d assume if you don’t pay the extra then it’s back to the normal weight for everybody.
  7. I just watched a few of the Exo vids. I might be telling you how to suck eggs here but he mentions exactly that in one vid. If you’ve got your frame set up in “long” mode, maybe you can swap it to “short” and it’ll give you the head room you need? It takes or adds 35-40mm to the length of the frame.
  8. I’m glad you mentioned the hip strap ? Sounds like you know your stuff!
  9. Be interested to hear what you think once it arrives. I remember when the no-frame trend started about 40 years ago. So it’s interesting to see things turn back again. I reckon the real answer is horses for courses - one is good in some situations and the other is better in different scenarios. But I’m no expert. I wonder if the frames have come back because the no-frame packs weren’t adjusted or fitted properly in most situations? Some designs can get pretty involved! I think my first one had aluminium rods running vertically in it that were supposed to be moulded to your back - I never worked out how that was supposed to actually happen! I should go into a shop that has both and try them side by side with some weight in them I guess.
  10. Not often you get a deal like that!
  11. I’ll go chat with Sally. ok, I’ll be begging to Sally
  12. I stumbled over this today I'm not a fitter, turner, or even welder but I'm devouring this guy's videos! Anyway, this stuff looks like it might be good for making "never dull" blade edges if you've got a TIG and skillz? Of course sharpening it again if you do manage to blunt it could be "problematic" for anybody without the proper equipment.
  13. Hi Markusshoot, welcome to the forum! This isn’t really the place for questions - just “hello’s” so typically you won’t get answers here. Having said that, if you re-post your question in the General Discussion area, I’ll look up the traps that I’ve had some success with and put some info in there for you Duncs
  14. Actually, I just looked that one you bought up. I reckon it might be better - even though its a bloody obvious knock-off. Be good if you posted up a review - especially if you use the clips to attach it to your pack.
  15. Nope. You want one of these https://www.elks.com.au/product/safari-sling-by-boonie-packer/#:~:text=Safari Sling keeps your rifle,right-side-up position.
  16. I use the S4. Light and simple. No room for pockets, etc but you can mould it to your binos so there’s no rattling. I found this too which might be helpful https://www.bestbinocularsreviews.com/hunting/best-binocular-harness-for-hunting.php
  17. Nah cool mate - your money: your decision. We’re all just sharing ideas and opinions here ? I’m looking at it from a cost-to-produce perspective. I get your point about how important it is but is a $5k Blaser any better performing than a $1k Remington, for example? If you do get one, I’d love to get a look at it - maybe I’ll change my mind
