    New Knife

I’ve bought a couple of blades with that sharp angle near the top and I’ve decided I’m not a fan. Might be good for stabbing bad guys but not sure of their usefulness in other circumstances. Maybe I just haven’t used them for the right things?
  3. It worked - thanks! But that just looks like a black tangled mess on the floor Any chance you’re can fill it out so we can see it’s form?
  4. Direct is easiest mate
  5. Sounds interesting. Got photos?
  6. I’m 6’1” so not super tall but tall enough that I stick out of standard mats. And it sucks for trying to sleep. You might fit on a 3/4 mat though? ?
  7. I had a pair of Steiner binos like this. At first I thought they were awesome - no more fiddling with the focus knob. I never got to compare them with Swaro's or anything up market but they were pretty good. One of the eyepieces fell off so I put them in to get fixed but ended up getting a free replacement pair (big tick for Steiner for that!!). The new pair have a focusing knob and I reckon they help see "through" the bush more-so than the "always focused" model. If you're after a set you can grab quickly and check something out, they'd be perfect. If you're doing slow scanning and trying to see through, I reckon the focus knob models are a better choice.
  8. I just keep hearing good things about them. One is on the chrissy list.
  9. I’d think it’d be a major pain in the arse having it in the roof unless you had easy access into the space (ie not a manhole). As Geoff said, police inspections need to be able to happen too. I wonder if the big and constant temperature swings in a roof would have an impact on wooden stocks? I wouldn’t worry about the ammo though unless you were going to grab it and shoot it immediately (hot ammo has higher pressures).
  10. ???
  11. Gebus help me!! They’re multiplying!! ?
  12. Haha yeah a little. They're a great idea. Knowing where other hunters are is a terrific implementation of existing tech. BUT the location signals are sent out over UHF on the same channel that the UHF is set to. So all the non-Rhino users who are on the same channel get a squeal every now and then which pisses me off no end. Matty worked out how to minimise (or stop?) this I think but it doesn’t stop me having a whinge
  13. Johnny Appleseed is legit and their prices are usually good.
  14. F#%ken rhinos...
  15. Wow!
  16. They look fantastic! Really like the look of the sheaths too with the different holding/locking mechanisms ?
  17. That hunters element deal that stubob put up would be hard to go past if you have the spare funds... Add some blaze to it and it looks like a great fair weather kit for the price
  18. There’s a couple of threads on here about this - there’s a pretty recent one from memory. Do a quick search and you should get some more info. Best advice is make sure you get one!
  19. Lensers are definitely over priced - they rely on their marketing to get away with it. There are plenty of cheaper and better options out there. Take a look at the Fenix HP25R. I’ve been using the same one for a a few years now. Multiple brightness modes, spot and spread, red reading light, std 18650 battery that can be easily swapped out or recharged while in the light (or externally obviously). I regularly use it for chainsawing, etc.
  20. That looks really nice! A work of art as much as a knife. I've always wondered how these little skinners go - looking forward to a report from doing a moose!
  21. Maybe take some gear for emergency repairs, just in case if you're worried about buckles and such? Cable ties sound like they might do the job.
  22. There’s a reason that Ridgeline stuff is cheap Samhuntvic and Stony Creek stuff is much better quality IMHO
  23. Shonky maps. Free and work fine!
  24. Thanks Rifletuner! I’ll keep your offer in my pocket for now if that’s ok. I’m keen to see how I go with the file to start off.
  25. I don’t have a heap to take off so a file will probably do the job. Here’s what I’m thinking. If I take it back to the yellow line it should be useable. Still looking for suggestions on sharpening the serrated part?
