Hi all!

Am new to the shooting/hunting scene. Live on the northern beaches,Sydney. My dad is from the bush originally. Used to shoot rabbits with him on a relatives farm in orange. Haven't shot for years. Waiting for my licence to be approved. Hoping to go pig shooting with a couple of mates in Queensland on a massive property near Cairns. Can't wait for my licence to come through. My dad was right into shooting when he was my age and bought 2 brand new sako's. He still has them in boxes never been fired. Will get the choice of either .222 or .22-250. Can't decide which action to choose. My brother gets the other one. Any advice on choice of calibre would be great. Also scope size options. Need all the advice I can get.

Cheers, talk soon.

GDay fellow hunters, I live in Sydney, Watsons Bay but my family from time imemmorable has owned a 6000 hectare property northwest of Crookwell in the southern Highlands, NSW just about every month we make trips to visit whatever family memebrs might be living there at the time and just about every family member has a rifle or more. I own a lee-enfield mk11 303. and Auswitch 22. singleshot but use many of the other firearms my family own. We head of on regular hunting trips for rabbit, cat, fox, duck, pig ....etc. My favourite hunting is fox whistling.

Hi everyone,

My name is Ben and I am from Wagga Wagga NSW.

I grew up on the family farm about an hour out of town, there I started shooting at about the age of 12.

I now live in the city but still regularly travel to properties out of town to shoot vermin.

I have a Great Dane/Mastiff pup, and have just bought a new Hilux ute and look forward to putting both to good use out west on pigs as soon as I possibly can.

Talk soon, Benny.

Gooday,

Im from Sydney,

Been Hunting since the age of 10. Now im 36yo.

Love the great outdoors. Will often go hunting and just sit and watch animals and not shoot at all.

Have hunted overseas, but always miss the Australia bush.

Im an amatuer gunsmith and knife maker by choice, but an office worker in order to pay bills.

I collect Puma knives, and used to collect hand made firearms but that got to expensive for me so i stopped.

I look forward to meeting new friends and maybe even going on a hunt with some people from this board.

Regards to all

Pumaster

G'day to all

I'm from Collingullie, I've been aquainted with firearms since I was six when my Father and Grandfather let me handle a rifle for the first time. I would love to say that I am a crack shot because I started so young, unfortunately that is not the case, so I regularly shoot at the Wagga Wagga SSAA range to get as much practice as I can. I also try to get out hunting as much as possible but Wife and Daughter just don't understand my need to become one with nature, so I don't get away as much as I would like now days. I've mostly hunted Foxes, Rabbits, Hares and Cats and have hunted Deer a few times with out success, found lot's of rub trees that were fresh but as yet I still have to see a deer. I'm keen to do some pig hunting in the future if I can, I have a Winchester 1894 Big Bore .375 Win to try on them, this rifle also doubles as my deer hunting rifle, I cast my own bullets from wheel weights and once gas checked and lubed they weigh 270 grains and loaded behind 25 grains of AR2207 velocity is 1680 feet per second average.

Be Silent, Shoot straight

Regards, Jaeg
