Hey Allan,Welcome to Aushunt!
Better that you post questions in the forums somewhere rather than in the G'day section - you won't always get a reply here.
In general though, a 223 will be good medicine for foxes at 200m or more.

Welcome aboard, Leegaard!
A better idea for you would be to post these questions up in the General area instead. Not too many people read the "Gday" section so will probably miss your questions.
We've got ones with a fast/slow button which helps but you still get the same problem you've described, Dutchy. It'd be exaggerated if you were trying to track something moving too.
The other thing I forgot to mention is that I bought it for the length. It's the first bag I've owned where I can sleep in it at full stretch and not hit each end. The warmth factor was a bonus!
I like the look of those! I've got the standard bino harness that's popular these days. It works well to keep them from swinging but looking through them is a struggle with the elastics. So these look alright!
Svord (NZ) and Dewey are well made. A drop point skinner would be a good all-around knife if you had to have only one.
The Havalon's are also a great all-purpose butchering knife if you had to only carry one. Not really a survival knife (too fragile) but if you just wanted one hunting knife it'd be a good choice.
I reckon most hunters would carry two knives and then some have a more extensive butchering set back at camp.
Recon all the way. Can't remember which model mine is (either a 3 or a 4) but bloody hell its good! "Sweating at night in the Gatta" good!!

I'm not so worried about the electrickery - that stuff only comes out at quiet times.
I'm thinking more about the backpack. It could be a great big UV danger beacon to deer even though it's in camo already.
